TUMWATER, Wash. (AP) — Police investigating the deaths of two people after a chase on Interstate 5 at Tumwater went to a home in Spanaway where they discovered the body of a child.

Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer told KIRO-TV deputies went to the home Tuesday to check on the welfare of children ages 2 and 10. A search is under way for the other child.

Washington State Patrol troopers say a driver fleeing from a trooper Tuesday morning shot himself in the head after his car spun out. Troopers also found the body of a woman passenger in the car. Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock says she had been shot in the head.
