Master food preserver training available

The Washington State University extension office is offering a training program for those interested in becoming master food preservers.

Volunteers attend 40 hours of training during seven weeks. The training covers the basics of food preservation and food safety through lecture discussions and hands-on activities. Volunteers also will be trained in answering consumer questions.

An information and orientation session will be from 10 a.m. to noon April 20 at the Manor Evangelical Church, 17913 N.E. 72nd Ave., in Battle Ground.

The seven-week training will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays from April 27 to June 8 at Manor Evangelical Church. A $100 fee covers the costs of reference materials and supplies.
