Washougal firefighters have knocked down a fully involved fire inside a chicken coop that spread to a nearby tree.

The blaze broke out about 7:30 a.m. The chicken coop is about 50 feet from a house on the property, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.

The coop is the size of a small house, dispatchers said.

Traffic in the area was being controlled to allow firefighters to use water from a hydrant across the street. The fire was put out by 7:40 a.m.

The fire was at 964 G St.
