FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Plaxico Burress has tweaked an ankle, and New York Jets coach Rex Ryan says the newly signed wide receiver might be sidelined “one or two days.”
Ryan says it’s not a “significant” injury.
Burress was expected to take the field for the first time Thursday once the collective bargaining agreement is ratified, which would allow newly signed players to practice. Burress, who served 20 months in prison on a gun charge, was signed Sunday and has been observing training camp practices since Monday.
Ryan was unsure which ankle Burress tweaked but says the team will be smart with it. The team wants Burress ready so he can play in the regular-season opener against Dallas on Sept. 11.
