BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) — Kids will be able to climb on orca sculptures at the playground in Lions Park in east Bremerton when a renovation is completed next month.

The Kitsap Sun reports (http://bit.ly/pFQkDz ) the sculptures were inspired by the 1997 visit of 19 killer whales who stayed a month in Dyes Inlet. People would watch them from Lions Park.

The $1.8 million park renovation includes improvements to prevent the flow of stormwater pollutants into Puget Sound.
