PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a teenager has died after an 80-foot fall from a cliff at Rocky Butte in east Portland.

The 600-foot butte is an extinct volcano whose east slope was once extensively quarried, leaving cliffs. An experienced climber died there in May, and another person was injured this year.

Paul Corah, a Portland fire spokesman, calls the area dangerous and urges visitors to be wary.

The youth was found at the bottom of a cliff late Monday night. Corah confirmed Tuesday that the teenager had died.
