The Department of Transportation stresses it wants traffic to move quickly, and that is the reason for the new overpass and Northeast 10th Avenue and 134th Street interchange. Not so with the roundabout on Northeast 10th Avenue. Traffic moves faster in a straight line. Trucks have a hard time making the turns and go over the sidewalk. Expensive landscaping will require maintenance of grounds and sprinkler systems in addition to the cost of water.
On 139th Avenue, north of Fred Meyer, the median being built appears that it will more than likely require maintenance. Why not a concrete barrier, like the one that divides lanes on Interstate 5?
It appears to me that cost was no problem to those planning this project. I am sure it looked good on the drawing board. Just go to the money orchard and pick off the money tree what you need.
