C-Tran supporters plan campaign event: Supporters of this fall’s Proposition 1 will hold a campaign “kickoff” event Tuesday night at The Atrium Lounge in downtown Vancouver.

The measure would bump C-Tran’s local sales tax by 0.2 of a percentage point in order to preserve basic bus service in Clark County. C-Tran leaders have said the transit agency — currently drawing down reserves to keep operations intact — would have to cut bus service by 35 percent should the measure fail.

Tuesday’s event will include speeches by two C-Tran riders who rely on the system daily. The gathering follows a rally outside the Clark County Fair earlier this month. Voters will decide the fate of Proposition 1 on Nov. 8.

The Atrium Lounge, which is wheelchair accessible, is located at 606 Broadway St. in Vancouver. The event runs from 5:30 p.m to 7 p.m.
