Simmons, Houston coast past Texas A&M-CC 87-66

HOUSTON (AP) — Jonathon Simmons scored a game-high 22 points, including four 3-point baskets, to lead Houston to an 87-66 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday night.

Houston (4-3) also dominated the glass 43-28 as TaShawn Thomas gathered 12 and Alandise Harris had 11. Thomas also blocked four shots.

Houston had three other scorers in double figures — Leon Gibson (16), Thomas (12) and Joseph Young (12).

The Cougars had the game well under control in the first half, hitting 16 of their 30 field-goal attempts for a 50-33 lead at halftime. They also finished the game with 26 second-chance points.

Hameed Ali led Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (1-5) with 15 points, and Terence Jones scored 12.
