Letter: Failure is mask for other motives

Published: December 5, 2011, 4:00pm

Has anybody considered the failure of the supercommittee to be the only way for our officials to spread the hurt? It’s also the only way Republicans could show their faces to their party with pushing cuts to areas of the budget that largely go uncut by their party. I can’t say I’m pleased with the supercommittee inaction, but part of me smiles when I think of the Department of Defense taking cuts.

I mostly just hope the supercommittee didn’t get paid for their useless work, since it changed nothing.
