ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — There won’t be a national championship on the line when No. 25 Florida State and Notre Dame meet in the Champs Sports Bowl.

That apparently hasn’t diminished the interest or intrigue about Thursday’s matchup between two of the sport’s most-storied programs, which have combined for 70 previous bowl appearances.

The game is sold out for the first time in its history and features interesting quarterback story lines.

FSU junior quarterback E.J. Manuel is playing in his first bowl as the Seminoles’ full-time starter, while Notre Dame is expected to play both sophomore Tommy Rees and redshirt freshman Andrew Hendrix.

Due to injuries, FSU will go young on the offensive line and expects to start four freshmen.
