ORONO, Maine (AP) — Chris De La Rosa scored 24 points and had a career-high 13 assists to lead Maryland-Baltimore County over Maine 84-79 on Sunday.
Justin Fry added a career-high 20 points for the Retrievers (5-19, 4-7 America East Conference), who trailed 49-35 55 seconds into the second half. UMBC then outscored the Black Bears (14-9, 8-3) 18-2 over the next 5:50 for its first lead of the game, 53-51.
De La Rosa scored or assisted on all but two of the points during the run.
Maine reclaimed the lead 58-55 with 9:23 left, but De La Rosa tied it on a three-point play and then fed Adrian Satchell to give UMBC the lead for good, 60-58, with 7:58 to play.
