Russia, Italy dominate WCup relay races

DEMINO, Russia (AP) — Russia won the men’s 4×10-kilometer relay and Italy dominated the women’s 4×5-kilometer event at a World Cup meet Sunday.

Russians Evgeniy Belov, Maxim Vylegzhanin, Petr Sedov, Alexander Legkov finished in 1 hour, 37 minutes, 37.6 seconds in a combined race of two classical and two freestyle legs. The Italy I team was 6.4 seconds behind and Germany was another 26.1 seconds behind in third.

Magda Genuin, Marianna Longa, Silvia Rupil and Arianna Follis of Italy clocked 53:15.3 to edge Russia I by 12.1 seconds. Russia II was a 1:24.1 back in third.

The relay events wrapped up a three-day World Cup meet.

The next World Cup event is scheduled for Feb. 19-20 in Drammen, Norway.
