A 62-year-old woman had a broken finger Friday after colliding head-on with a Peterbilt semi near the 21400 block of Northeast 58th Street, also known as state Highway 500, in the Proebstel area east of Orchards.

Sharon L. Bemis of Vancouver was taken by ambulance to Southwest Washington Medical Center. She was treated and released later Friday, a hospital employee said.

About 1:10 p.m., Bemis was driving a 1994 Ford pickup west when she veered left across the center line and collided with the truck tractor, according to a bulletin from the Washington State Patrol.

The trucker, Scotty D. Curtis, 53, of Camas was not reported injured.

A trooper ticketed Bemis for alleged second-degree negligent driving, the bulletin said.

The WSP did not say Friday night why Bemis crossed the centerline, but the bulletin said neither drugs nor alcohol was involved.
