Mt. St. Mary’s (Md.) tops St. Francis (Pa.) 63-56

EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) — Lamar Trice scored 18 points and Danny Thompson added his first career double-double to lead Mount St. Mary’s to a 63-56 win over Saint Francis (Pa.) on Thursday night.

In a game of dueling losing streaks, Mount St. Mary’s ended its eight-game skid while extending Saint Francis’ to 10.

Mount St. Mary’s (4-12, 2-1 Northeast Conference) raced to a 19-point, first-half lead. Julian Norfleet’s free throw with 2:22 left in the half gave the Mountaineers their biggest advantage, 36-17, before the Red Flash (2-12, 0-3) rallied.

Down 37-22 at the half, the Red Flash cut the deficit to 53-50 on an Anthony Ervin jumper with 50 seconds left. Thompson, who had 10 points and 12 rebounds, answered with a dunk with 35 seconds left. Josh Castellanos also had 10 points for the Mountaineers.

Mislav Jukic paced Saint Francis with 19 points and Umar Shannon added 16.
