Wet and mild weekend forecast for Washington

SEATTLE (AP) — The National Weather Service says a series of Pacific rain systems will keep Washington wet through the weekend, filling rivers and likely causing mudslides.

A flood watch is in effect for most of Western Washington, but any flooding is expected to be minor. The rain and melting snow will also fill rivers in the Spokane and Palouse basins.

The Weather Service says a cold front should dry things out by the middle of next week.

Forecasters say temperatures will remain above normal through the weekend with Western Washington highs in the 40s and 50s and Eastern Washington highs in the 30s and 40s.

Some soggy hillsides are starting to give way. A mudslide before noon Friday closed Highway 101 near Hoodsport.
