ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Bourbon Bay defeated Champ Pegasus by 1 3-4 lengths to win the $150,000 San Marcos Handicap at Santa Anita on Monday, improving to 5-0 on the track’s turf course.

Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Bourbon Bay ran 114 miles in 2:00.03 and paid $7.80, $3.80 and $3.

Champ Pegasus returned $2.80 and $2.40 as the 17-10 favorite, while Sebastian Flyte was another 114 lengths back in third and paid $3.60 to show.

Bourbon Bay was 4-0 on the turf at Santa Anita last year, then lost to Champ Pegasus at Hollywood Park before avenging the defeat on Monday after a seven-month layoff.

In the $80,600 San Pedro Stakes for 3-year-olds, Indian Winter defeated City Cool by a half-length. The winner ran 612 furlongs in 1:15.23 under Martin Pedroza and paid $22 to win.
