Mountain View — A team from Mountain View High School took third place in the Electrical Power and Wind Direction category of the 2011 MESA USA National Engineering Design Challenge in June. The students designed and built their own wind generators.

The teams were judged on mechanical power, wind-to-vehicle transfer, electrical power and wind direction response. The students gave an oral presentation, prepared an academic display and wrote a technical paper.
