Vancouver — Jacob Bredstrand of Vancouver, a Washington State University graduate student and immediate past president of the Associated Students of WSU, has been appointed as the student member of the WSU Board of Regents for the 2011-2012 academic year.

His selection as WSU’s 14th student regent was announced this week by Gov. Chris Gregoire. The appointment runs through June 30, 2012. The board consists of 10 members, one of whom is a student, and is the governing body of the university.

Bredstrand earned a bachelor’s degree in humanities from WSU earlier this year. He now is pursuing graduate studies in sports management.

While at WSU, he has served on the Athletic Council, the University Recreation Board and the NCAA Steering Committee. A member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, he was named “Greek Man of the Year” by the WSU Interfraternity Council in 2010.

Bredstrand graduated from Evergreen High School in 2005.
