Vaughn, Pondexter lead Liberty to 94-82 win

TULSA (AP) — Kia Vaughn had 24 points and Cappie Pondexter added 23 to lead New York to a 94-82 victory Thursday over Tulsa, snapping a four-game losing streak.

The Liberty (3-4) scored 54 points in the paint, and Vaughn finished 12 of 14 from the field. Former Shock forward Plenette Pierson had 14 points. Essence Carson had 12 points and Nicole Powell added 10.

Elizabeth Cambage led Tulsa with 22 points. Kayla Pedersen scored 18 and Ivory Latta added 13.

Trailing 44-32 at the half, Tulsa (1-7) mounted a comeback behind nine consecutive points from the 6-foot-8 Cambage, closing to 58-53.

The Shock also came within 76-75 on Tiffany Jackson’s jumper, but the Liberty closed the game on an 18-7 run.
