SEATTLE (AP) — OneAmerica Votes — the campaign arm of the state’s largest immigrant advocacy group — has been fined $3,000 by Washington’s Public Disclosure Commission for failing to properly register as a political committee and to timely report contributions and expenditures.
The Seattle Times reports that the PDC also fined the House Republican Organizing Committee for failing to report $120,000 contribution to the state Republican Party.
The PDC suspended $1,500 of the $3,000 fine imposed on OneAmerica, which admitted wrongdoing because of miscommunication and lack of experience as a political committee. The commission also suspended $500 of the $1,700 fine to the Republican organization. Both fine suspensions stand if both groups don’t break any more rules in the next four years.
