CHEHALIS, Wash. (AP) — Lewis County Sheriff Steve Mansfield says a 10-year-old girl was lucky to be wearing two coats when she fell down a steep bank into a ravine.

Mansfield also told KING-TV of Seattle she was lucky it wasn’t colder Tuesday night. Searchers heard her voice about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday and pulled her to safety. She was cold but suffering only minor scratches.

Her parents had reported her missing from their back yard.
