CLACKAMAS, Ore. (AP) — The Clackamas County sheriff’s office says a man who fled from a deputy and led officers on a high-speed chase was wanted on drug and burglary charges in Multnomah and Polk counties.

The chase began early Wednesday when the car driven by the man ran a stop sign then refused to pull over.

Speeding in excess of 80 mph, the car went from I-205 to a Portland exit. Police slowed the car with a spike strip that punctured tires, but an officer had to use a ramming maneuver to force it to stop.

The driver fled on foot but was eventually caught. He’s identified at 28-year-old Damen Jay Holt of Vancouver. Now, he’s also facing charges of reckless driving and attempting to elude.
