FERNDALE, Wash. (AP) — Sen. Maria Cantwell, Congressman Rick Larsen and other officials are visiting the Intalco Works smelter in Ferndale Saturday afternoon to help Alcoa celebrate restarting one of the aluminum processing lines.

The potline was shut down in 2008 and restarted last month, creating 80 jobs.

The Bellingham Herald reports 20 percent of the smelter is still idle.
