MALAGA, Spain (AP) — Kenneth Ferrie shot a 60 to equal the European Tour record Saturday, climbing within one stroke of leader Paul Lawrie heading into the final round of the Andalucia Open.

Ferrie had eight birdies and an eagle on No. 12 to jump 43 spots. He was tied at 11-under 199 with fellow Englishman Mark Foster.

Ferrie said his play “was unspectacular, but it added up to a spectacular score.”

Lawrie proved steady again and had five birdies in a 65. The former British Open champion has only one bogey in three rounds.

Foster also shot a 65 after making six birdies in an eight-hole stretch on the back side.
