DALLAS (AP) — Brittney Griner scored 40 points and combined with Odyssey Sims in the game-clinching run as top-seeded Baylor defeated feisty Wisconsin-Green Bay 86-76 Sunday night to advance to the regional championship.
The Lady Bears (34-2) led only 52-49 before Griner made a short baseline shot over two defenders with just over 13 minutes left. Sims then hit consecutive 3-pointers and ended the spurt with a steal and breakaway layup. Griner and Sims combined for all the points in a 14-0 spurt.
Griner also had 10 rebounds and six blocked shots.
Kayla Tetschlag had 27 points for Green Bay (34-2), which had won 25 games in a row.
Next up for Baylor is Big 12 runner-up Texas A&M, which has lost three times to the Lady Bears this year.
