Ridgefield — Students at South Ridge Elementary held a coin drive to raise money for the victims of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan. More than $1,500 was raised by students in kindergarten through sixth grade. An additional $100 was donated by Ridgefield High School students. The money was presented to Suzanne Arnits, community partners director of the Southwest Washington chapter of the American Red Cross, by Principal Janice Suave during a special assembly Friday. Arnits told the students how the money they raised would be used for relief efforts in Japan.
