Prep roundup: Ridgefield soccer beats White Salmon for Trico title

Spudders will play Hoquiam next week for district crown

Travis Heim scores two goals and assisted on another Thursday, helping the Ridgefield boys soccer team win the Trico League championship with a 4-0 win over White Salmon.

Taylor Konkright and Cameron Goddard also scored goals for the Spudders in the match, which was played at Washougal High School.

Ridgefield (15-1) will play Hoquiam next Thursday for the No. 1 seed from District 4 into the Class 1A state tournament. That match will start at 8 p.m. at Doc Harris Stadium in Camas.

Union 2, Heritage 0 — Mikhail Duholis scored both Titan goals as Union clinched the outright Class 4A Greater St. Helens League championship.

Union will play in a bi-district playoff game on May 14 at Kiggins Bowl for a berth to the 4A state tournament.

Skyview will play Evergreen next Tuesday for the district’s second seed to the bi-district tournament.

Hudson’s Bay 4, Prairie 1 — Sascha Pell scored two goal and Will Dow added a goal and an assist as Hudson’s Bay clinched third place the 3A GSHL.

The win means that Columbia River will face Fort Vancouver in a loser-out match at Camas for a berth in the bi-district playoffs.

Regular-season champion Camas will host a bi-district playoff match on May 14. Second-place Mountain View will travel for a bi-district playoff on May 14.

Hudson’s Bay will play the first of two potential bi-district playoffs on Thursday in Olympia.

Hockinson 5, R.A. Long 1 — The Hawks completed an 11-1 league season in the 2A GSHL. The league champions will play W.F. West of Chehalis in a first-round district playoff match on Saturday at Battle Ground’s District Stadium.

Washougal, the league’s third-place team, will play at district playoff match at Centralia on Saturday.

Baseball

Castle Rock 6, La Center 1 — Castle Rock broke the game open with three runs in the fourth inning to win a Trico League tiebreaker for the fourth and final seed into next’s week’s Class 1A district tournament.

The loss ended La Center’s season.

Softball

Mountain View 14, Columbia River — Kylee Gaspar, Nicole Kellams and Kaitelyn Lukes all homered as Mountain View won a key late-season game in the Class 3A Greater St. Helens League.

The win moved Mountain View into sole possession of third place in the 3A GSHL at 8-4, a half-game ahead of Camas.

If Camas loses to first-place Kelso today, then Camas will fall into the 4/5 game at next week’s district tournament against Hudson’s Bay or Columbia River. That game is an elimination game, with the top four teams advancing to the 3A bi-district tournament.

Girls golf

Prairie 194, Columbia River 208 — Maddy Ward shot a 41 at The Cedars on Salmon Creek to help Prairie complete an undefeated regular season in the 3A GSHL. Columbia River’s Chloe Bartek took medalist honors by shooting a 40.
