Fastest Magician wins Belmont’s A Gift Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) — Fastest Magician rallied from last to upset Longhunter by one length Sunday in the $60,000 A Gift Stakes for 3-year-olds on the turf at Belmont Park.

The longest shot in field at 22-1, Fastest Magician got his second win in three starts. Jose Lezcano was aboard for trainer Barclay Tagg as the chestnut gelding ran the seven furlongs in 1:25.84 over the yielding course.

Fastest Magician paid $47, $11.40 and $6.20. Longhunter, the 2-5 favorite, returned $2.60 and $2.10. Batter Up paid $2.80 to show.
