PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Oregon campers may find some higher elevation campgrounds closed by snow over the Memorial Day weekend.
The wet and cool spring has left snow piled high in its wake — as much as 12 feet at the 5,300 feet level on Mount Hood.
But officials say most area camping opportunities will pretty much be the same as usual for late May.
The Oregonian reports that camping on the Oregon coast is wide open. All state park campgrounds are open, except for the small one at Hilgard Junction, where its 18 primitive sites are still affected by recent high water on the Grande Ronde River.
