PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) — A former Port Orchard police officer convicted of pushing his girlfriend out a window faces more than 15 years in prison when he is sentenced next Thursday for assault.

The Kitsap Sun reports (http://bit.ly/th8gs3) a Kitsap County Superior Court jury convicted 49-year-old Dennis L. McCarthy on Thursday after a three-week trial.

He said the woman fell out the second-floor window last November while hanging curtains.
