Diabetic chef offers free class, workshop

A chef who specializes in diabetic cooking will visit Clark County in recognition of Pacific Northwest Diabetes Week.

Chris Smith, aka The Diabetic Chef, and diabetes educators will hold a free workshop in Vancouver. The workshop will include a cooking demonstration and education on the types of diabetes, risk factors and tips for healthy eating.

The workshop is 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Hilton Vancouver Washington, 301 W. Sixth St.

Pacific Northwest Diabetes Week will kick off with the Circle on the Court event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Rose Garden in Portland. The free event will include health screenings, diabetes education, take-home resources, appearances by celebrity athletes and sports clinics hosted by the Chris Dudley Foundation.
