Cascade Park West — Wy’east Middle School teacher Erin Lark, and students Kerri Hon and Reilly Dale were awarded a $1,500 grant after writing a proposal to the Vancouver Watersheds Alliance. The money will be used for a hands-on food-to-table science lesson in conjunction with the Washington State University Master Food Preservers program. Students will prepare freezer jam and bread using local farm products as part of the lesson. Part of the grant will go toward building a harvest table food and flower garden at the school.
