South Carolina State outlasts Savannah State 20-10

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Richard Cue had 258 all-purpose yards and Asheton Jordon added 151 on the ground to lead South Carolina State to a 20-10 victory over Savannah State on Saturday, in the season finale for both teams.

S.C. State (7-4, 6-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) opened the game with 17 unanswered points to take a 17-3 lead into halftime. Cue’s 28-yard run in the first quarter gave the Bulldogs a 10-0 advantage. Jordon’s 15-yard touchdown run capped off a 12-play, 75-yard drive.

Derek Williams and Blake Erickson exchanged field goals and Antonio Bostick connected with Brian Lackey for Savannah State (1-10, 1-7) for the final margin.

Cue, who rushed for 116 yards, also threw for 142 yards on 14-for-25 passing. Jordon paced the Bulldogs’ rushing attack, tallying 153 yards on 15 carries.

Erickson nailed three field goals for S.C. State, making kicks from 31, 51, and 45 yards.
