Cascade Highlands — The Evergreen School District Foundation received a $5,000 donation from New Seasons Market during its grand opening on Nov. 12 in a show of support for the local schools.

In addition to the donation, the store held a two-day fundraiser for the foundation. Employees raised an extra $350 selling hot cider, cocoa and elephant ears. Kris Greene, the foundation president, said the money will have an impressive impact on quite a few classrooms.

The Fisher’s Landing store has also started a “Bag It Forward” program, which gives a nickel to local school foundations every time a customer uses a reusable shopping bag. Vancouver school foundations will also receive 100 percent of the profits from specially marked Northwest-grown apples and pears through New Seasons’ School Fruit program.
