SEATTLE (AP) — King County Metro Transit has reversed itself and says it will accept bus ads urging shoppers to “Buy American” and “Shop Locally.”

The Seattle Times reports (http://is.gd/sEwmEq ) Metro had initially rejected the ads as a violation of its policy against political advertising.

General Manager Kevin Desmond said Thursday that upon further evaluation, the ad does not express an opinion about a public issue, but rather promotes the sale of goods.

The nonprofit group TAP America wants to run the ads.
