One person was sent to the hospital with neck and back pains after a Wednesday night collision on state Highway 503 in the Orchards area, officials said.

The crash was reported just before 6 p.m. near the intersection of Northeast 117th Avenue and Northeast 95th Street, north of Padden Parkway.

Anatoliy Slavskiy, 78, of Vancouver was driving a 1997 Toyota Camry north in the right lane, made a prohibited U-turn and struck another vehicle that was traveling north in the left lane, a state patrol bulletin said.

The second car was a 2000 Honda Accord driven by Corrine Herrera, 37. One of her passengers, Marisa Herrera, 15, of Vancouver, was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported by ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, the release said.
