Letter: Defeat C-Tran ballot proposal

I agree with the letters from readers against Proposition 1. I’m frustrated by all the waste in C-Tran. Empty or nearly empty buses are everywhere. Many of the buses are “Cadillacs,” with wide seats, air conditioning, and darkened windows.

In my neighborhood, the route No. 2 bus passes every half hour in both directions seven days a week. These buses are empty or at most one or two passengers. Once I followed it downtown for over three miles, and did not see a single person get on or off. Not only is this a waste of money, but it also unnecessarily adds greenhouse gases to the air.

Rather than giving C-Tran more money, they need to be more efficient by using smaller vehicles, running less frequently, and likely eliminating some routes.

Remember that fares cover only a small portion of operational costs and none of the fixed costs.
