DeMarco, Old Dominion dominate Campbell 41-14

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Thomas DeMarco scored three first half touchdowns in Old Dominion’s 41-14 win over Campbell on Saturday in the season opener for both teams.

The Monarch’s used a balanced offensive attacked to amass 506 total yards.

DeMarco was 29 of 29 passing for 312 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. His 7-yard run gave the Monarchs their first lead at 14-7 in the first quarter, and a 34-yard strike on third-and-11 to Antonio Vaughn to put the Lions up 21-7 at the half.

Vaughn, who had 6 catches for 97 yards, also scored on a reverse from 30 yards out to put the Lions up 38-7 in the third quarter and secure the home victory. Angus Harper rushed for 28 yards and one touchdown on eight carries and added seven catches for 58 yards.

Campbell’s Braden Smith threw for 172 yards and accounted for both of the Camels’ touchdowns.
