SEATTLE (AP) — U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan says her bank account was robbed of $1,000 last month after thieves stole her debit card information.
Durkan told King 5 News Friday (http://bit.ly/qCYkdk) that thieves used a method known as “skimming” to obtain her personal information. The method includes installing debit card readers and hidden cameras on ATMs to record PINs.
Durkan recommends the public should be vigilant for these skimming devices.
No arrests have been made in her case. Durkan chairs the Justice Department Cybercrime Subcommittee.
