SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — Gov. John Kitzhaber is making a back-to-school speech as he continues his push to sell his education ideas.

He’s scheduled the speech Tuesday afternoon in Springfield to advance the agenda he’s been pushing since he took office in January.

He’s been making the case that Oregon focuses too much on funding for K-12 schools and not enough on ensuring students are well educated.

This year he persuaded lawmakers to approve a framework for creating a powerful birth-to-college oversight board to recommend education funding and policy in Oregon.
