Nationals beat Phillies 4-3 in 10 innings

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Ryan Zimmerman’s pinch-hit single in the top of the 10th inning lifted the Washington Nationals past the Philadelphia Phillies 4-3 Tuesday in the first game of a day-night-doubleheader.

Roger Bernadina smacked a three-run homer off Phillies reliever Michael Schwimer into the seats in the second deck of right field in the seventh for a 3-0 lead. Raul Ibanez hit a three-run pinch-hit homer in the bottom of the seventh to make it 3-3.

Tom Gorzelanny (4-6) threw a scoreless inning in the ninth for the victory. Drew Storen picked up his 39th save.

The Nationals have won eight of their last 11 games. The Phillies have alrready clinched their fifth straight NL East title.
