EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — The U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs is looking for 13 acres in the Eugene area to build a facility, and two cities are vying for the right to host the $40 million clinic.

The Eugene Register-Guard reports (http://bit.ly/o05L2b ) the Eugene city council will examine proposals for land parcels on Monday.

Developers or landowners would build the new structure at their own expense and lease it to the VA for 20 years.

The VA requires a “campus-industrial” area, of which there are few in Eugene.

VA officials haven’t identified any contenders, preferring to wait until they select a site and developer.

The city of Springfield also hopes to bring in the facility.
