SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A power outage Monday morning left east Salem residents without power and cut off electricity to traffic lights in the area.

The Salem Statesman-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/pxMKSY ) the source of the outage is unknown.

The city had to put temporary stop signs in spots where power crews were unable to restore electricity to stoplights.

PGE spokeswoman Gail Baker says the power went out at 5 a.m. and the company sent three crews to address the problem.
