RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) — The curiosity of neighbors talking at a picnic led Karen Miles to look into the spelling of street names in Richland.

She found out that four streets named for war veterans in the 1940s and ’50s are misspelled. For example Van Giesen St. (spelled with an e-n) should be Van Gieson St. (spelled with an o-n).

KEPR reports (http://is.gd/ccqQW6) the city can’t afford to change the signs, but donations are paying to put up 150 street markers on private property.
