SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich (kuh-NEZ’-oh-vich) has called a Monday afternoon news conference to announce his plan for dealing with an increase in home burglaries.

The sheriff’s office says they’re up 53 percent since last year. A number of the break-ins are taking place in daylight hours or when people are at home.

The news conference is set for 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Public Safety Building in Spokane.
