NORTH BEND, Wash. (AP) — What goes up does not necessarily come down. At least not when a 100-pound dog named Ana gets spooked and bounds 250 feet up a steep, snow-covered slope at the top of Washington’s Mount Si (sigh), then refuses to come down.
The Washington State Animal Response Team headed to the scene after Ana’s owner, Eva Perry of Issaquah, called the King County sheriff’s office. The next morning, a Seattle Mountain Rescue team climbed to the top of a rocky feature called The Haystack atop the 4,167-foot peak and found a cold and anxious Ana. They strapped her into a harness, lowered her to the waiting animal rescuers, and she was soon reunited with her owner.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Cindi West said Monday that Ana survived her April 9 adventure with no ill effects.
