Vancouver — A Wednesday open house meeting will offer residents a chance to weigh in on a proposed bus rapid transit line along Vancouver’s Fourth Plain corridor.
Early last year, C-Tran suggested BRT as a possible solution to congestion and transit delays on Fourth Plain. BRT could use larger vehicles, raised boarding platforms and specialized signals among other features to help move passengers more efficiently along the crowded thoroughfare.
C-Tran has proposed locating the system between downtown Vancouver and Westfield Vancouver mall, but it could extend as far east as Northeast 162nd Avenue. Current plans would also send bus rapid transit down Fort Vancouver Way near Clark College.
The project could cost anywhere from $30 million to $60 million, depending on which option is chosen, and how far east it goes.
