VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — A 2-year-old boy survived an 18-foot fall from a second-floor roof of an apartment building at Vancouver.

The Clark County sheriff’s office says the boy was supposed to be napping Sunday in a third-floor apartment when he climbed through a damaged screen onto the second-floor roof. Deputies say he fell onto damp soil near a sidewalk.

A 13-year-old boy who was playing football nearby heard the thud and notified the boy’s father while others helped the toddler. He was taken to a hospital in good condition.

But that’s not all the teen did. Deputies say Damon Davenport saw the boy’s 18-month old brother on the same roof. Davenport ran back to the third floor, tore through a screen and safely retrieved the 18-month old.
