Pendleton Woolen Mills on Saturday will open a new retail store at the Portland International Airport, according to the company and the Port of Portland, which operates PDX.

Located near the security entrance to concourses D and E, the new Pendleton store is designed with elements of a weaving mill environment to showcase the Portland-based company’s heritage in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Pendleton Woolen Mills was founded in Pendleton, Ore., and has operated a Washougal weaving mill since 1912.

The company’s new store will feature apparel and home furnishings, including Pendleton’s signature woven-wool blankets inspired by Native American graphics. It also will feature a mix of “gifts to go” for travelers, according to a company statement. Pendleton formerly operated a PDX retail store, which was closed in 2010 to make room for a new Beaches Restaurant.
